Please pencil these dates into your calendar so we have a big Finn turnout at each of them. The Finn Gold and Silver Cups are fast approaching! The St Francis Yahct Club in San Franciscio is p[laying host to what should be two great events. There are a large number of Aussies taking part in both events so tune in to the regatta web site www.stfyc.com to follow their progress. Good luck to all those making the trip across! AUSSIES IN ACTION OVERSEAS We have had quite a few Aussie representatives competing overseas over the past months. Here is a run down of how they have faired. Miami OCR: Delta Lloyd Regatta: Masters World Championship: Kieler Woche: Well done to all these sailors on a great effort. We also have plenty of sailors heading to the USA for both the Silver and Gold Cups starting in mid August. Follow their progress on the regatta web site. 2010 SAILING SEASON Well Finn sailors, a new season is upon us and I must say it is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting ever. The IFAA has never, and I mean never had to register this many new boats, the Finn fleet is looking healthier than ever, thanks largely to the efforts of Rob McMillan. There are also some new faces/names; Courtney, Jake (young Jake as opposed to rejuvenated Jake), Stephen, Gus … and the list goes on, welcome to the Finn fleet I look forward to seeing you all on the water. It’s good to see Patto and Tim putting in some good performances OS. Welcome back to the old campaigners, the scuttlebutt is that a couple of the more seasoned campaigners (one triple Olympian and a former world Laser champ) in the Sydney area have new boats on the way, it will be very competitive at the front of the fleet, and good “viewing” from further back in the fleet. I cant wait to see Aarons new boat, I’m guessing it’s been a few years since anyone built a Cedar strip planked Finn, from the pictures I’ve seen it looks pretty special. All we have to do now is work out how to measure it…he 2010 season see the return of Andre Blasse as the Finn measurer, the IFAA is supporting Andre in his quest to become a fully fledged ISAF measurer. Andre has a wealth of knowledge and is in constant touch with Juri so feel to sing out if you have any questions. The Nationals at Sorrento are shaping up to be fantastic, having said that we are always on the lookout for event sponsors so if you or your company wish to sponsor the IFAA or the Nationals please contact John or myself (contact details are on the contacts page). See here for a link to the regatta poster.look forward to seeing all the new boats and faces on the water in the near future. Brian Reynolds Secretary, IFAA Dear Finn Members. Please note that the 2010 membership fees are now due. Please note that it is a requirement to be a financial member of the IFAA to compete in the upcoming “Sail Down Under” series incorporating: SIRs, Sail Melbourne, Sail Brisbane etc. Get in early, and we hope to see you all on the water. Brian Reynolds IFAA, Secretary. 2009/10 AUSTRALIAN SUMMER REGATTAS The 2009/10 Summer of sailing is shaping up nicely with a number of quality regattas and some great lead up events and smaller regatta’s over the summer months.
